Planning a Conference with ASABE
A Signature Event is a small, specialty conference or symposium that will be managed with ASABE staff and your planning committee. It will be financially self-sustaining with all supporting funds generated by registration income and sponsorship. These events are a great addition for ASABE members to attend for networking, knowledge sharing, and growth.
Hosting a successful event starts with a determined planning committee. Many hours of work will be devoted to monthly or weekly planning calls to develop an agenda, identify key topics, solicit sponsors, source speakers, and more. An ASABE Signature Event means:
- The event will be listed in ASABE’s online calendar of events
- ASABE will be the hosting organization
- ASABE is fully financially responsible
- ASABE staff support
Requesting Endorsement or Sponsorship from ASABE
The Endorse-Sponsor Policy application can be reviewed for any conference or meeting that is either already being planned by another organization or would be a joint venture between ASABE and another society. Depending on the level of support being asked for in a partnership, the Signature Event Policy application may be requested for approval.
ASABE Endorsement means:
- The event will be listed in ASABE’s online calendar of events
- The hosting organization will ensure that the ASABE logo and a mention of ASABE’s endorsement appears on all print and electronic materials for the event
- ASABE will provide no financial assistance
ASABE Sponsorship means:
- The event will be listed in ASABE’s online calendar of events
- ASABE will send targeted electronic communications to ASABE members
- ASABE will promote the event through ASABE’s various meeting and event resources
- The hosting organization will ensure that the ASABE logo and a mention of ASABE’s endorsement appears on all print and electronic materials for the event
- The hosting organization will promote ASABE’s meetings, conferences, and membership information through a similar exchange of marketing. ASABE will provide a list
- ASABE will provide the agreed to amount of financial assistance
Next Steps
Once the type of application has been determined, select it below, fill it out, and return to Jessica Bell at Bell@asabe.org. The Meetings Council will then review the request and a decision to approve or decline the request will be voted on. This process will typically take a minimum of three weeks to complete. Requests that involve a significant financial commitment from ASABE may take longer to review. Communication from ASABE regarding the application status will be sent as soon as the review is complete.
