Pick a technical community to review your manuscript in ScholarOne Manuscripts

In ScholarOne Manuscripts, when you submit a manuscript for review, you will be asked to indicate which technical community should review it. Make your best choice from the communities with topics listed below. If the editor thinks it would better reviewed by a different community, it will be routed appropriately.

Applied Science & Engineering (ASE)

Rarely used. Do NOT use this community to indicate that your manuscript should be published in "Applied Engineering in Agriculture". These topics relate to fermentation, forest engineering, and fundamentals of agricultural and biological engineering.

Education, Outreach, & Professional Development (EOPD)

Topics include teaching methods and curricula. Safety-related education is reviewed by ESH.

Energy Systems (ES)

Topics include biofuels, biomass energy, electrotechnology, energy systems, renewable power generation, and miscanthus.

Ergonomics, Safety, & Health (ESH)

Everything reviewed by ESH is for the Journal of Agricultural Safety and Health (JASH). Everything in JASH has been reviewed by ESH. Topics include farm safety programs, injuries, grain elevator safety, use of ROPS, etc. Vibration and operator controls in a tractor cab could be reviewed by ESH to go into JASH or reviewed by MS to go into Journal of the ASABE or Applied Engineering in Agriculture.

Information Technology, Sensors, & Control Systems (ITSC)

Topics include analytics, automation, biosensors and their application, computational methods, controls, electro-magnetic, fuzzy logic, image processing, information technologies, instrumentation, machine vision, mechatronics, robotics, simulations, sonic and ultrasonic applications, spectroscopy, and wireless device applications.

Machinery Systems (MS)

Topics include agricultural equipment, application of materials, automation, GPS, harvesting, hydraulics, ISOBUS, loaders, machine systems, mowers, precision agriculture, RFID, soil-machine interactions, sprayers, tractors, and tractor-equipment interfaces.

Natural Resources & Environmental Systems (NRES)

Topics include dams, drainage, ecological engineering (sustainable living systems), erosion, floodplains, geomorphology, groundwater, hydrology, irrigation (sprinklers and sprayers are a topic for MS), land application of wastes (but manure pits are a topic for PAFS), remediation, reservoirs, sediment, sewage, soil and water remediation, soil conservation, sprinkler irrigation wetlands, streams, sustainable land resources, watersheds, and wetlands.

Plant, Animal, & Facility Systems (PAFS)

Topics include agricultural structures and facilities, agricultural waste management, air quality in and around agricultural facilities, aquaculture, animal housing, barns, comfort of animals in structures, fans, greenhouses and growth chambers, handling of grains, milk handling, silos, and solar energy technology for agriculture.

Processing Systems (PRS)

Topics include bioconversion, bioprocesses, crop handling, drying, in-plant waste reduction, physical properties of biological products, and processing and storage of food and other biological products (except biofuels topics are handled by ES).
