Social Media Manager

Open Position (Part-time)

ASABE is searching for a knowledgeable, creative social media manager to administer and advance the Society’s social media presence. This is a part-time position. Flexibility in work schedule and location will be considered for the right candidate.

Reporting to the director of communications, the social media manager will work with ASABE staff to create content, manage posts, and respond to followers in a strategic and efficient manner. The manager will also provide analysis on post performance and will advise coworkers across departments on best practices and trends current digital technologies.


  • Oversee social media account design and settings
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy that achieves Society goals
  • Collaborate with ASABE staff to set departmental objectives, establish an editorial calendar, and identify content
  • Generate and publish engaging content
  • Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Communicate with followers and respond to queries in a timely manner
  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences and recommend new channels and features
  • Stay up-to-date with trends, and recommend new technologies, design tools, and applications
  • Advise and educate staff on best practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications/journalism; however, consideration will be given to an exceptionally well-qualified undergraduate student on track to obtain a marketing or communications degree. In either case, preference given to a candidate familiar with issues related to agriculture, engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Proven experience in social media account management and analysis
  • Strong writing and graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of creative software and ability to deliver content appropriate for social media, including video
  • Superior judgment in crafting and posting messages
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, Google Analytics, online marketing channels, and web design
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to work independently and efficiently, prioritize workload, and complete tasks in an efficient manner
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and copyright laws
