ASAE T01 POLICY & PROCEDURES COMMITTEE
RESPONSIBILITIES

Philosophy: Standards Council is responsible for the strategies for the ASAE Standards Program, including policy and coordination activities across all ASAE technical units. The council provides the overall guidance for the 03 Standards Committees who handle the operational aspects of standards development with Development Committees addressing content, technical detail and balloting. Policy and procedure are the responsibility of T01.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY           DETAILS

1. Budget

  • Provides input to Standards Council on budgetary requirements/impacts of procedural aspects of standards program
2. Funding
  • Identify for the Standards Council steps in the procedures that may aid in identification of areas for funding support of the standards program

3. Liaison

    Internal
  • Report to Standards Council committee standards activities/issues
  • Interact with ASAE 03 standards committees to ensure process meet the needs of the divisions
  • Network with SCO2 and T13 on procedural and process requirements to expand the scope of ASAE standards into International areas endorsed by the Standards Council as strategic objectives.
  • Establish processes as required by the standards staff for including other SDO standards as references in the ASAE standards program.

    External

  • Liaison with ANSI on the requirements for accreditation of the ASAE standards program.
  • Provide a process for profiling standards and users or standards (values/benefits) for use by 03 standards committees and development committees
  • Network with key organizations identified by T13 on processes and procedures to move ASAE standards into their programs.

  • Establish policy and procedures in concurrence with guidelines set forth by the Standards Council and identified as requirements in the liaison responsibilities

    Strategy

  • Develops continuing review of the processes to ensure that the policy and procedures are current and serve the needs and requirements of the participants in the standards program.
      · Work with 03 Standards Committees to ensure due process, procedures and standards policies of ASAE have been adhered to in standards development. (Balloting of standards for adoption of content is the responsibility of the development committee, the consensus body per ANSI procedures)

  • Act on procedural issue resolution brought forth by committees, ASAE staff, ANSI or other parties
5. Resources
  • Identify processes and/or procedures to ensure effective application of resources within the ASAE standards staff and participants in the standards program
6. Acknowledgement
  • Identify and nominate candidates for awards and acknowledgements
7. Marketing
  • Provide to the standards council recommendations on means to promote the development, application and support of standards including the use or application of the ASAE standards processes by other sectors
