ASAE SC02 NEW STANDARDS IDENTIFICATION & COORDINTION COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

Philosophy: Standards Council is responsible for the strategies for the ASAE Standards Program, including policy and coordination activities across all ASAE technical units. The council provides the overall guidance for the 03 Standards Committees who handle the operational aspects of standards development with Development Committees addressing content, technical detail and balloting. Policy and procedure are the responsibility of T01. T13 identifies and coordinates standards activities between ASAE and other Standards Developing Organizations (SDO). SC02 identifies new standards projects for standards development and coordinates projects crossing technical divisions areas of interest.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY           DETAILS

1. Budget

  • Provides input to Standards Council on budgetary requirements/impacts of standards work including:
    · Support services for new standards projects
    · Liaison with T13 (International Standards Committee) on budget impact of joint standards projects with other SDO

2. Funding

  • Identify new participants in standards projects for CSP support
  • Identify opportunities for funding for support from state, federal or other associations with interests in new ASAE standards projects
3. Liaison
    Internal
  • Report to Standards Council committee activities/issues
  • Interact with ASAE technical units to coordinate overlapping issues or technologies between 03 divisions to align projects with appropriate division
    External
  • Identify key constituents, agencies, research groups in new technology development for which standards will be required.
  • Establish networks and areas for standards development such as EMI and FEMA and other associations with interests in agriculture or biological services

4. Policy/Strategy

    Bylaws/Procedures/Policy
  • Establish bylaws in concurrence with guidelines set forth by the Standards Council
    Strategy
  • In concert with T13, monitor international standards development to identify standards projects of mutual interest
  • Develop strategic plan with input from the 03 Standards Committees for future standards projects
  • Provide the input to promote the approach for one standard, one test and use worldwide
  • Provide guidance to the Standards Council to serve the ASAE objective of a world center for standards (national or international scope of the proposed standard)
5. Resources
  • Identify resources required to support new standards projects proposed by the committee for which there is no established committees in ASAE
6. Acknowledgement
  • Identify and nominate candidates for awards and acknowledgements
7. Marketing
  • Provide to the Standards Council recommendations on means to promote the development, application and support of standards in the key areas of interest to the ASAE Society
