AETC Presentations

At the 2007 Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference (AETC) and International Conference on Crop Harvesting (ICCHP), in Louisville, KY, there were several sessions of interest to standards developers. Posted below are the presentations from some of those sessions.
Don't forget to check out the Technical Library (top link at the left of this page) for the actual papers presented (if they were submitted). Papers that have been pointed out: "Plucking Difficult to Harvest Native Grass Seed" (abstract), by Lee Arbuckle, and the two presentations by Feiffer Consult on semi-dwarf canola varieties and loss measurement on combine harvesters.

• Mike Senneff gave another great presentation on the ISO 4254 Series of standards. 2007 AETC 4254 Series of ISO Standards Presentation.
• Viacheslav Adamchuk spoke on various automatic guidance of vehicles issues. 2007 AETC Automatic GUidance Presentation (PDF).
• Qin Zhang discussed the new age of iron, and how mechanization and automation are being combined to create a new generation of agricultural equipment. 2007 AETC New Iron Presentation (PDF).
• Rich Job hosted another great session on Tractor-Implement Interface, which focused on ISOBUS issues. 2007 AETC TII-ISOBUS presentation.
• Rich Job, Scott Cedarquist, John Fisher, Ed Kreis, and Brian Herbst put together a session about standards trends, focusing on hitching and braking. The session was presented at the 2007 National Farm Machinery Show, to better enable those attending/exhibiting at the show to participate. 2007 AETC/Farm Show Standards Trends presentation.

ICCHP Presentations

• Zdenek Kviz's presentation on the use of a capacitance sensor to determine forage mass. 2007 ICCHP Capacitance Sensors for Forage Mass Determination Presentation (PDF).
• Two presentations from Universiti Putra Maylasia -- 1) A New Integrated System Mechanization Concept for the Oil Palm Plantation Industry in Malaysia, presented by Darius El Pebrian (PDF),
  and 2) Mapping Harvested Yield and Field Performance from a Rice Combine (PDF), presented by Azmi Yahya.
• Glenvar Direct Bale system -- Bale your straw right out of the combine!
• Alan VanNahmen submits his views on a possible combine/header interface standard.

Mike Senneff, of Deere and Company, was awarded the AETC 2007 MVP, for his hard work on Standards activities. Senneff's work on the ISO 4254 series of safety standards is invaluable to both the US and the international community. His tenacious pursuit of technical issues that need to be addressed has resulted in several significant improvements to proposed draft standards, and will help make this important series of standards a viable resource for manufacturers the world over.
