 2010
AE50 Awards
About the AE50 Awards Program
The products winning the 2010 AE50 awards represent the best and the brightest developed around the globe for the agricultural, food, and biological systems industries. Award winners include companies of all sizes and varying inventive focus.
The innovative inventions and designs highlighted herein were selected from numerous entries in the annual AE50 competition sponsored by ASABE’s Resource magazine. As in every year previous, the judges who chose the winners represent all facets of the agricultural, food, biological, and related systems engineering professions. The expert panel picked the best of products first introduced to the marketplace during 2009. As always, these products are expected to save producers time, costs, and labor while improving user safety.
The annual AE50 program has been encouraging and applauding engineering achievements for two decades. Past winners include companies of all sizes throughout the world.
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers is proud to sponsor the AE50, the only awards program of its kind, celebrating companies for developments in specific areas of agricultural, food, and biological systems. Many of the honored, new ideas given awards are patented and their names trademarked. In the future, some may even become house-hold words. Others will be further improved as technology advances. But all who achieved the award strived for excellence, and we are pleased to showcase each one.
Information on how to enter next next year’s competition will be available January 30, 2010 on this website. Please contact Sandy Rutter, 269-932-7004 or rutter@asabe.org if you have any questions.

Official
Entry Instructions
Deadline:
Entries Postmarked by September 10, 2009
This earlier date, compared to previous years’ competitions, will allow collaboration with the new AG CONNECT Expo scheduled for January 2010. ASABE’s annual Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference will be held in conjunction with the Expo, which is sponsored by the Equipment Manufacture Association (AEM). This partnership provides exciting opportunities for the AE50 program. Please note that while the deadline for submissions is before the end of the calendar year, you can enter any product already introduced or planned for introduction to the market during the 2009 calendar year, as described below and on the entry form.
Sponsored by Resource magazine, published by American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers
The Search for Excellence is on!
The 24th
annual AE50 recognition program will honor companies offering
the best products engineered for agricultural, food, biological
and related systems available on the market for the first time
in 2009. A panel of experts in these fields will choose up to
50 winners.
AE50 Outstanding Innovations in Product or Systems Technology will be Selected Based on These Guidelines
Each development must have been introduced and made commercially available no earlier than January 1, 2009
and no later than December 31, 2009. If no fully functioning units have yet been sold, they must be advertised and available for sale. Products still in the development stage do not qualify.
Each engineering development (component, machine, structure, system, end product, procedure) must embody the application of new technology or the innovative application of an older technology. The development must be new to the industry not just new to your company.
Each development must be intended principally for use in the production, processing, research, storage, packaging or transportation of agricultural and food products.
Each development must have the potential for broad impact on an application area or on the industries served by the engineering of food and agriculture.
Each development must be deemed by the AE50 Selection Committee to be a worthwhile contribution to the advancing engineering in food and agriculture.
Entries may be either an entire machine or system, OR the most innovative component of it - NOT BOTH. Only one component per machine may be submitted. Any attachment that is designed specifically for use with a machine and introduced with it is considered part of the basic machine system.
