Last Word (reader opinion) - Sustaining the World's Forests
Sustainable management of the world's forests is an important current issue.
People want and need forest products but also seek assurance that removing
these products will not damage the ecosystem. An International Union of Forest
Research Organizations (IUFRO). task force on sustainable forest management is
addressing this issue. A task force on sustainable development of mountain
forests is also addressing management issues in mountain forests around the
world.

Iowa Section Commemorates Hart-Parr Engine
Ever wonder where the word "tractor" originated? In 1902, the Hart-Parr sales
manager coined the term to describe the machine that carried the first
commercially successful internal combustion farm tractor engine. The Hart-Parr
engine has now been designated an ASAE Historic Landmark by the Iowa Section.
