Tractor Pull Builds More than Machines
A university student's perception of a recent engineering design competition
illustrates how contests can teach participants the value of teamwork and other
life lessons not learned in the classroom.
Flow Meters Focus on Durability
As technology advances to change the way machines and systems measure water
flow, some manufacturers are opting to improve traditional methods.
Sludge Effects on Land: A Case for Caution
Recycling non-farm waste for agricultural use could be a worthy goal. But the
effects on public and environmental health and agricultural soils should also
be considered.
Studying Earth's Structure
Prospecting for oil reservoirs could be one possible use for researching how
sources outside the planet may determine depth, density and elastic wave
velocities.
Last Word (reader opinion) - Solutions for Conservation
The new Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) is an adaptable
environmental enrichment effort focusing on the specific needs of a state or
area. The CREP allows federal, state and local governments to work with
farmers, ranchers and landowners to establish acceptable conservation
practices. The goal is to combine and leverage the expertise and resources of
public/private partnerships to help today's farm families achieve a balance
between demands on nature and the need to feed and clothe the world.
Inside ASAE
First Quarter Scale Tractor Pull a Roaring Success
ASAE's first annual Quarter Scale Tractor Design Competition and Pull attracted
nearly 130 competitors representing 17 schools to Moline, Illinois, where they
put on a whale of a show for 200-plus fans. Here are photos of the winning
machines.
