Customer Focused Approach to Design
Engineering students are rarely educated in how to integrate customer needs
into the product design process. Faculty in University of Georgia's Department
of Biological and Agricultural Engineering hope to change that by offering
training in new design methodologies.
Last Word (reader opinion) - Environmental Reform on the Horizon
A National Institute for the Environment (NIE) has been proposed to provide the
scientific data that could help the EPA and state governments make informed
decisions when developing environmental regulations. The proposal for NIE is
now endorsed by hundreds of public and private groups and individuals
throughout the United States.
SPECIAL SECTION!
AE50 Outstanding Innovations
The 1998 AE50 awards are announced in this special issue of Resource. The
magazine's cover photo shows a computer flowchart of an engineering and
development process that starts with an idea and ends with an AE50 winning
product. See the pullout AE50 section in the center of the magazine to learn
more about the top 50 products -- and the companies that produced them --
honored in this year's AE50 program.
