FEATURES
* A Sweet Smelling G’day, Mate!
Fulbright Scholar Chris Henry studied emissions, modeling, and setback estimation “Down Under” and gained the broader experience of being not just an American citizen but a citizen of the world. He advises those nearing graduation, “Complete your education and get a global perspective: travel.”
* Getting It Done in Ghana
“Since joining in 2000, I’ve sensed a common ASABE bond: an underlying desire to do good for society, to engineer systems to provide food, fiber, and energy for people in a resourceful and responsible manner. It was no accident that I learned of this opportunity at an annual meeting,” says Ghanaian traveler Gary Feyereisen.
* Wind Tunnel Experiments
“I am a student who spent three months in Japan and want to write a Marco Polo article,” e-mailed Nadia Sabeh. “I am going to Egypt to visit my sister, to Spain for a greenhouse conference, but then I’ll send my saga ...” No stranger to a suitcase, Sabeh had a layover long enough to unpack the chronicle of her fog nozzle work.
* Solar Energy Technology
No sunglasses, just readings specs needed. The fifth-in-a-series feature sheds light on sun-generated energy. Experts disagree on how long the global supply of oil and natural gas will last but concur that the future belongs to alternative, renewable energy, and that the sun will keep shining.
* 2005-2006 ASABE Annual Report
A new name and logo were approved this past year to represent the breadth and depth of the profession. As ASABE approaches its 100th Anniversary, the Society reflects on the strong foundation that has allowed it to prosper for a century and to hold bright prospects for the future.
