FEATURES
Universal Steering Kit ... 7
Rhett Schildroth, program manager for John Deere AMS, offers up-to-the-minute news from his agricultural machinery development front: the AutoTrac Universal becomes available this month. Compatibility with older equipment is the big plus, but bringing understanding as to how the AutoTrac system works, its operation and advantages, is Schildroth’s goal. Another welcome plus: the kit is a sound solution for relatively little cost.
Study Tour to Germany ... 9
In the second of Resource’s occasional Marco Polo features, Otto Loewer pieces together the story of a international study-tour project. Bill Barfield of Oklahoma State University, and John Hayes of Clemson University, drew on a variety of resources to develop a challenging, foreign experience for their equally adventuring students.
Off-Road Dynamics Facility ... 11
Cranfield University at Silsoe, where Dick Godwin heads the National Soil Resources Institute, is in process of a major project completion: a state-of-the-art off road machine dynamics facility. The grand opening, slated for May 2006, has worthy long-term research goals, one being creation of a virtual environment for evaluation of any machine or vehicle configuration in a controlled manner.
Bringing Fallacies to Light, Part 2 ... 13
Responding to reader interest, Joel Cuello and Gilberto Costa continue debunking radiation-measurement misconceptions, concluding with the final installment in their two-part series dispelling two more fallacies in the world of plant photosynthesis.
