Final Report: Gulf Hypoxia and Local Water Quality Concerns Workshop
The Upper Mississippi River Sub-basin Hypoxia Nutrient Committee held a workshop in September 2005 to bring together a distinguished group of researchers to identify the most effective ways to reduce nutrient losses from agricultural land in the Corn Belt. The near term goal of the committee is to provide a technically sound and economically viable nutrient reduction strategy. The 14 topic areas cover hydrology and drainage issues, constructed wetlands, buffers, nitrogen and phosphorus factors, erosion control, and various tracking and evaluation tools. Draft papers were presented and critiqued at the workshop. Authors then had the opportunity to revise their papers based on input from panelist at the conference and from critiques of the second draft. This resulted in a report that combines the expertise of a large number of leading professionals in this area. 224 pages, 6 x 9 inches, softbound.
