Engineering for a Sustainable Future
ASABE100
Multi-Media Competition for High School Students
Welcome!
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers is pleased to announce the 2008 ASABE100 Multi-Media Competition for High School Students.
Over the past century, since the Society's founding in 1907, our quality of life has advanced in countless ways, thanks in no small measure to the advancements made by agricultural and biological engineers.
ASABE now looks toward its second century of service. Numerous engineering challenges are already in focus, while others are just beginning to emerge.
The 2008 ASABE100 Multi-Media Competition calls students to cast their thoughts toward the future, to consider our world and its needs: What are the great engineering challenges of the 21 st century? What role will agricultural and biological engineers play in meeting them? What unique skills do they possess to meet those challenges?
High school students, we invite you to consider those questions and answer them in a short essay. Then, capture highlights and examples from your essay in a brochure, written for an audience of your choosing who would wish or need to know about the profession of agricultural and biological engineering.
Registration is required for all entries and must be submitted online by January 25, 2008. You may submit your entry any time after registering but no later than February 8, 2008. Winners of the State contests will be announced April 1.
If you have questions, contact Dolores Landeck, 269-429-0300. Print a copy of the registration form to include with your permission form when you submit your entry.
Confirmation of each registration will be sent to the e-mail address you provide on the registration form, or to your school address if no email address is given.
Note to teachers: A maximum of 12 students per Sponsoring Teacher may be entered each year.
We look forward to receiving your entry. Thank you for your participation!
