The JOHN L. & SARAH G. MERRIAM SCHOLARSHIP
Instructions for Submitting Application
A student may apply to more than one scholarship,
as long as all requirements are met. Only one ASABE Foundation funded
scholarship will be granted to any one student per academic year.
A yearly scholarship grant of $1,000 will be awarded to an undergraduate
student, with a special interest in the Soil and Water area of study,
who meets the following criteria:
- is a student member of ASABE;
- has a biological or agricultural engineering major with
an emphasis of study in Soil & Water;
- has COMPLETED at least one year of undergraduate study
and has AT LEAST one year of undergraduate study remaining from
the time of application;
- whose curriculum is accredited by ABET or CEAB; and
- has a GPA is at least 2.5 (or equivalent on 4.0 basis).

How to Apply
1) Fill out the official entry form, which includes an
essay stating why you have selected the Soil and Water discipline
as the focus for your degree and the extent of your financial need.

2) Have your department head (or college official) fill
out the endorsement section of the official entry form, corroborating
that:
- you are a student member of ASABE;
- you are a biological or agricultural engineering major,
with an emphasis in Soil and Water;
- the applicant has COMPLETED at least one year of undergraduate
study and has at LEAST one year of undergraduate study remaining
from the time of application;
- your curriculum is accredited by ABET or CEAB; and
- your GPA is at least 2.5 (or equivalent on 4.0 basis).

Entries must be received by headquarters on or
before March 15.

Notification of Grant
The scholarship program is administered by the ASABE Foundation.
The recipient of the grant is selected by P-120 Student Organizations
Committee. The committee reserves the right to not award a scholarship
during a particular year. Recipient is notified in early June. Publicity
concerning the scholarship winner will occur in a fall issue of
Resource and press release.
