Sections

Visits were made to the Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Pacific Northwest sections by Society leaders and the membership director. Additionally, visits were made to NABEC and the CSAE-SCGR Annual Meeting. We continue to receive helpful feedback from members, which enables us to serve them better. We are also finding that the name change issue is being widely discussed across all section meetings.

A Section Officer Update electronic newsletter was sent to section officers, the Membership Development Council and the ASAE leadership on 8/22 with headquarters news and updates. The next newsletter will be mailed the second week of November.

Preprofessional/Student Outreach

The Preprofessional Officer team developed the second newsletter aimed specifically towards ASAE student branches and student activities. It was mailed on 10/23 and contained information of specific interest to preprofessionals. The next newsletter is scheduled to go out in April 2004.

New Member Outreach

A new member newsletter was sent by e-mail on 9/22 to all members who joined ASAE within the last 18 months. The newsletter highlighted information of specific interest to new member. These newsletters are a part of an overall New Member Program developed within the last year to get new members involved in ASAE programs and activities from the start of the affiliation with ASAE. These newsletters continue to be well received by members.

We’re also pleased to report that Tina Schultz, with the help of Sharon McKnight and Barbara Sowden, was able to convert 42 non-member attendees of the TRIO Conferences in Raleigh, NC into members. We have found that face-to-face recruitment efforts still tend to yield the best results for bringing in new members.
