TMDL Field Tour

The morning tour will include stops at dairies that have participated in a microwatershed project designed to reduce nutrient contributions to streams and water bodies. Dairy operators will discuss best management practices (BMPs) that were installed, adjustments they made to their operations, and the successes and/or failures that they have noted.

We will have lunch at Tarleton State University. Ron Jones, director of Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research (TIAER), will discuss TMDLs and the Upper North Bosque River watershed.

After lunch, the tour will continue to one of the sampling sites and to area compost facilities. These businesses are involved in a joint effort between state agencies and area dairy operators to reduce the amount of solid waste applied to fields within the North Bosque River watershed.

COST: $65 per person

Tour includes coach transportation, lunch, tour guide. Bus leaves from front of Radisson Hotel
