Seventh International Livestock Environment Symposium

Welcome to the website of Seventh International Livestock Environment Symposium (ILES VII)!  The ILES VII will be held in Beijing, China, May 18-20, 2005.  Since 1974, this symposium has served as the main platform to foster exchange of research discoveries and networking among engineers, animal scientists, veterinarians, and other professionals interested in animal-environment interactions and technologies.

Of the past six ILES, four were held in the United States, one in the United Kingdom and one in Canada.  This is the first time that ILES will be held in Asia, where exists the fastest growing, most dynamic livestock industry in the world.  The scale of livestock production in Asia also varies dramatically from family owned backyard rearing facilities to production-scale operations with large, modern facilities.  China alone produces approximately 50% of the hogs and 30% of the poultry in the world.

The meeting will be hosted by China Agricultural University and will be held in the Friendship Hotel, a four-star hotel with modern conference facility yet with a Chinese traditional garden style.  ASAE is also working with a tour company to organize excursion tours to other parts of China, including Shanghai, Xian and Guilin.  More details on the meeting program will be posted soon.
