MEETING LOCATION
The 2006 ASABE Annual International Meeting will be held at the Oregon Convention Center (OCC), 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Portland, Oregon 97232. The OCC is located within Portland’s city center, right around the corner from many restaurants, tax-free shopping, cultural attractions and entertainment. MAX light-rail makes getting around easy. It can pick you up or drop you off right at the OCC’s front door and take you just about anywhere downtown for free! OCC is eight short miles from the airport, and MAX can bring you straight to us or take you back near your hotel. High-speed wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet connections are located throughout the Oregon Convention Center.
WEATHER
Portland's weather belies the stereotype of the rainy Pacific Northwest. Our average annual rainfall is less than that of Atlanta, Birmingham, Houston, Indianapolis or Seattle. Average high for July is 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) and low is 57 degrees F(14 degrees C).

Housing reservations for the ASABE Annual International Meeting may be made with POVA Housing Bureau thru the ASABE website

All rooms are subject to 12.5% occupancy tax.

BADGES
Due to homeland and international security guidelines NO ONE without a badge will be admitted into any ASABE Annual International Meeting function or event. Minors must be accompanied by an adult badge holder or registrant. ASABE’s Annual International Meeting has several registration classes with various entitlement and opportunities.
Please review your registration material carefully to ensure you have selected the meeting registration that maximizes your meeting experience. Remember, all badge holders and registered attendees have the opportunity to purchase CPD classes, events and tour tickets.
TRAVEL VISA
Applications for Visa invitation letters are now available on the ASABE website with no fee. You will need to complete the asterisk requested information within the form and an automatic response will reply with the completed Visa invitation letter for you to print instantly. To obtain a Visa invitation letter which can be presented at your consulate for travel visit the ASABE website.

ASABE recommends that you initiate your visa application process at least four to six months prior to the opening date of any ASABE conference or meeting.
All prepaid international conference registrants will be posted by ASABE to an intranet site for the U.S. State Department listing the ASABE conference and all prepaid international registrants, which every embassy and consulate in the world can access for verification of attendance.
TRANSPORTATION
Portland has long been known as a clean, green and friendly metropolis, with lots to do and even more to see.
Leading the "City of Roses" into the 21st century is its economical, easy-to-use public transit system, which every year transports millions of visitors and residents through the city and its surrounding neighborhoods
Fareless Square: On TriMet buses, MAX light rail and the Portland Streetcar, there is such a thing as a free ride. Throughout the 330-block downtown "Fareless Square," passengers ride free of charge. The Fareless Square is bordered on the west and south by I-405 and on the north by Irving Street. The eastern boundary now extends across the Willamette River to the Rose Garden arena, Oregon Convention Center and Lloyd Center mall. AIR
Just 20 minutes from downtown, Portland International Airport (PDX) has earned awards for demonstrating that large-scale airports can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Currently 16 passenger airlines serve PDX, with direct and non stop service to more than 100 cities worldwide.
GROUND
Airport shuttle service and taxis are available.
TRAIN
Portland is served by three Amtrak intercity passenger trains.
PARKING
Check with your hotel regarding parking availability.
Oregon Convention Center has underground parking at a maximum of $8.00 per day.
