February 2006 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference (AETC).
Professionals and pre-professionals of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) will gather at AETC to share the most
recent technological advances in agriculture and related industries and develop ASABE industry and safety standards.
Previous conferences have received great marks for Distinguished Speakers and 2006 will be no exception. Allen Rider, retired
Vice President from CNH, will be speaking about Evaluating Realistic Energy Source Alternatives in Agriculture. The Distinguished Lecture Series
will be presented by Randy Raper and Mac Kirby discussing Controlled Traffic.
The Continuing Professional Development Workshops (CPD's) will be comprised of: 1) Designing powered metallurgy parts for more
complex geometries and improved dynamic properties 2) Fastener and bolted joint design for success.
This years Technical Tours will be themed with heritage and historical value. Options include visiting either the
Woodford Reserve Distillery where you can observe the science involved with the mass production of Kentucky whiskey or tour
Jeffboat Industries, America's largest inland ship builder.
Technical Sessions will be highlighted with topics in Manure Management Systems, Precision Agriculture, Biomass Systems, Forestry,
and International Safety Standards; to name a few. Tuesday is Pre-Professional Day, as AETC will be hosting sessions tailored
towards those interested in seeking employment and managing their careers. AETC will also be hosting a technical session for
Quarter-Scale tractor enthusiasts where discussions will entail sharing the challenges of integrating suppliers with engineering solutions.
Many of the ASABE Standards Committees are seeking help with publishing standards. AETC will provide opportunities for
pre-professionals and professionals desiring to be involved with standards used to design, test, and manufacture agricultural and off-road equipment.
The dates of AETC 2006 have been set for February 12th-14th to precede the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY
where more than 800 exhibitors will showcase their skills, products, and technologies. AETC and the farm machinery show are a
must for any agricultural machinery enthusiasts.
