Re:       Information for registration and paper submission

Thank you for your interest in participation in the ASABE ILES 8! We are working to provide a top-notch symposium that will be of great interest and value. While this is the 8th time the International Livestock Environment Symposium has been held, it is the first time that it has been held in conjunction with so many other conferences and symposia. We hope that you will find this a valuable addition to a historically excellent event. We know you will find the venue, Iguassu Falls, Brazil, to be a wonderful place to visit.

We have accepted 203 papers for the Symposium. Approximately half of these will be in lecture format and the remainder in poster format. You should have received confirmation of your submission and the news that the submission deadline is 31 March 2008.

A key difference this time is that many details of the Symposium will be handled within the framework of the CIGR International Conference on Agricultural Engineering and the 37th Congress of Brazilian Agricultural Engineers. Because we expect at least 800 people to attend these joint conferences, an automated facility for registration and paper submission has been designed to accommodate our mutual needs.

To make your experience in registration and paper submission straightforward, we have compiled the following instructions.  Please follow them carefully, and if you find any errors or inaccuracies, bring them to our attention so that we can improve everyone’s experience.

Pre-registration

1.      First you have to pre-register, go to: http://www.acquacon.com.br/icae/en/registrations.php;

2.      The website lists fees for members and non-members, and for low-income and high-income countries. If you are a member of EurAgEng or ASABE, you will be entitled to the membership rate.

3.      Currently the system is accepting pre-registration, so you will not be billed at this time. Please submit your information, and be sure to select the ASABE ILES 8 as your topic of interest. If it is not listed, please pick “1. Structure and Environment”

Paper submission

1.      Note – all lectures and posters must provide a paper in order to be accepted into the Symposium. No exceptions! If you cannot provide your paper by the deadline, your submission will be dropped from the list of participants

2.      You must provide the paper in electronic format using the ASABE conference style. You’ll find an MS Word template on the web at:

http://www.asabe.org/pubs/templates/proceedingstemplate.doc

Please use this template when preparing your file.

3.      Paper submission is a 3-part process, accessed from this website: http://www.eventoweb.com.br/icae/sc/paper/paper.php?&LANG=en

a.       Paper registration screen: provide the title, abstract, keywords, event selection (ASABE ILES 8), a password, and all authors. Be sure to select which author is the “presenting author”.  When finished, press the submit key and watch for any errors flagged in red and listed at the top of the page.

You may find it convenient to copy most of this information from your paper, or from the original.

After successful submission, the data confirmation screen will appear.

b.      Data confirmation screen: review the information, print the screen, and select “ok”. You will receive a new screen that says “data is accepted”.  You will be provided a button to upload your paper at this point. When successfully submitted, the authors will get a confirmation email with a unique paper identification number, and your password.

c.       Paper submission screen: You must provide the file in pdf format. Please convert it prior to submission.  The file must be less than 10MB. Once successfully uploaded, you will receive an email confirmation.

Note that paper submission does not have to be done immediately. You are encouraged to perform steps 3a and 3b soon however, to avoid delays and problems from too much traffic.
