Instructions for Preparing a Nomination
Please use the Nominator Form (link found above) for submitting a nomination for the Roger R. and Laura M. Yoerger Preprofessional Engineer of the Year Award.
The nominator of the candidate for the Roger R. and Laura M. Yoerger Preprofessional Engineer of the Year Award shall submit a completed copy of the nominator form and required 3-5 letters of support in PDF files emailed to the attention of ASABE Awards Administrator, Carol Flautt – flautt@asabe.org by the October 31 due date. One of the letters of support may be submitted by the department head of the nominee’s school where enrolled in addition to verifying the data presented on the CANDIDATE OFFICIAL DATA FORM.
*Supplemental Information: The nominator shall request that the student candidate fill out the ROGER R. AND LAURA M. YOERGER PREPROFESSIONAL ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD CANDIDATE OFFICIAL DATA FORM (link found above) at the time the nomination process is started. At the same time, the three to five letters of support should be requested and the persons informed of the deadline of October 31 to have the PDF file support letter to flautt@asabe.org or returned to the nominator by October 20 so that the nominator can include the support letters with his/her submission of the Nominator Form. The candidate should also be advised to have the completed CANDIDATE OFFICIAL DATA FORM converted to a PDF file back to the nominator by October 20 or earlier if deemed necessary by the nominator to assure that the Nominator Form and the CANDIDATE OFFICIAL DATA FORM reaches flautt@asabe.org by the October 31 deadline .

Purpose of the Award
To recognize the outstanding Preprofessional Undergraduate Student who has completed a minimum of two years of his/her undergraduate program of study in the field of Agricultural or Biological Engineering.
The Award
The name of the award shall be called the Roger R. and Laura M. Yoerger Preprofessional Engineer of the Year Award. The award acknowledges and recognizes the outstanding undergraduate engineer who has excelled scholastically and has been a leader in the local, regional, and international communities as shown by their activities and offices held at each level. The candidate who receives this award should also have expressed their desire to be actively involved in the Professional Society of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
The selection of the recipient for the Roger R. and Laura M. Yoerger Preprofessional Engineer of the Year Award shall be made by the M-164 Roger R. and Laura M. Yoerger Preprofessional Engineer of the Year Committee, with the final approval by the M-102 Awards Coordinating Committee. One Award shall be made each year as long as the nomination is deemed worthy by the M-164 Selection Committee.
The award shall consist of an appropriately engraved recognition item presented at the Annual International Meeting of the Society.
NOTE: Those nominating a candidate will be advised only if their candidate is selected. Each award candidate will be considered by the award committee only in the initial year the nomination was made.
Eligibility for the Award
The recipient must be a Preprofessional Member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. The recipient must be willing to be in attendance at the Awards Program during the Annual International Meeting to receive the award.
