Instructions for Preparing a Nomination
Please use the nomination form for submitting a nomination. The nominator of the candidate for Rural Electricity Resource Council Electric Technology Award shall submit a completed nomination form to headquarters by October 31.
All award nomination forms and letters of support are to be submitted to ASABE headquarters in the following electronic format only. Hard copy sent via regular mail will no longer be accepted.
The nomination form and required letters of support are to be sent as PDF files emailed to the attention of ASABE Awards Administrator, Carol Flautt - flautt@asabe.org Nomination forms and letters of support submitted in this format will allow headquarters to send the documents electronically to the award selection committee. It is the responsibility of the nominator and authors of the support letters to verify that the PDF file appears as intended.
The required letters of support can be included with the nomination form or sent separately as a PDF file emailed to the attention of ASABE Awards Administrator, Carol Flautt - flautt@asabe.org by October 31.

Purpose
of the Award
To honor and recognize members of
the ASABE for their personal and professional innovation of programs that
enhance the performance of the food, agricultural and environmental system
through technology related to electrical energy, and to emphasize the unique
role of engineering in the system.
The
Award
The name of the award shall be
the Rural Electricity Resource Council Award. The award is sponsored
by the Rural Electricity Resource Council, Wilmington, Ohio, RERFC is a national organization comprised of electric utilities dedicated to
the assurance of adequate electric energy supplies to enhance the profitability
of American agriculture and agribusiness.
The M-153 Rural Electricity Resource Council Electric Technology Committee will be responsible for the
selection of the award recipient with final approval by the M-102 Awards
Coordinating Committee.
The award shall consist of an
engraved walnut plaque to be presented to an individual at the Annual
International Meeting of the Society.
NOTE:
Those nominating a candidate will be advised only if their candidate is
selected. Each nominee will be considered by the award committee for two
additional years if not selected the year nominated.
Eligibility
for the Award
Qualifications for candidates for
the Award will require publication of accomplishments in some manner to make
them available to others in industry and/or education. Publication in
Transactions of the ASABE, Applied Engineering in Agriculture, an ASABE technical
paper or other release of ASABE is desirable. Publication of works in other
technical societies associated with the food system will also demonstrate
impact, along with publication in popular magazines, trade journals,
organizational newsletters and/or information leaflets. The documentation cited
can be written, video, pictorial, computer based, etc. Information can include
feature articles, technical abstracts, news items, advertisements or other
identifiable releases. Accomplishments can reference to a single very
significant innovation or a series of innovations over time that focus on
greater safety, efficiency and/or productivity in the food system through the
impact of electrical energy and/or technology. The focus can involve hardware,
software, standard of practice, design procedure or concept, educational
practice or an effort that has manifested itself in some practical usable
scheme or plan related to engineering, the electric power industry and/or the
food system.

Rural Electricity Resource Council Electric Technology Award

Established
in 1969, the Rural Electricity Resource Council (RERC) of Wilmington,
Ohio, sponsors the Electric Technology Award. RERC is a national
organization comprised of electric utilities dedicated to the assurance of
adequate electric energy supplies to enhance the profitability of American
agriculture and agribusiness. The purpose of the award is to recognize members
of ASABE for their personal and professional innovation of programs that enhance
the performance of the food, agricultural and environmental system through
technology related to electrical energy, and to emphasize the unique role of
engineering
in this system.
