Tower Silo

Directions to site of ASAE's Commemorative plaque for
the Hatch Tower Silo.

The Hatch Silo plaque is located in the Lyle C. Thomas Park in Spring Grove, Illinois, near the Illinois-Wisconsin border. That is approximately 30 miles ENE of Rockford and 50 miles NW of downtown Chicago. To find Lyle C. Thomas Park, take Richardson Rd. about 2 1/2 miles south from Illinois Rte. 173 or Blivin St. north from US Rte. 12. (Blivin goes north from Rte. 12 about 8 miles east of Richmond or 4 miles west of Fox Lake.) The park is on the east side of Blivin, about 0.2 miles south of the Richardson/Main St. intersection or about 0.3 miles north of Rte. 12. The Hatch farm, site of the original silo, can be found along Main St, about 1/2 mile east from Blivin. The silo no longer exists, but its concrete base is evident alongside the barn (as of 2003).
