The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) is seeking candidates for the executive officer position. The executive officer
serves as the chief administrative officer for the Society and its Foundation. While responsible for the overall success of the Society, the executive
officer is expected to focus on developing relationships with key constituencies and affiliated organizations, on assisting Board members and other
volunteers with their responsibilities, on public outreach with other societies and external groups, and on supporting the role of the elected President
who is the official spokesperson for the Society. The executive officer promotes the image of the Society by addressing outside groups, and by
overseeing public and governmental relations and international activities.
Requirements are a bachelor’s degree, demonstrated innovative, entrepreneurial, and creative leadership; experience in a position of responsibility
managing personnel and finances with a record of exemplary performance; strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and
implement projects and activities; strong interpersonal skills for service to the Society, the public, and members; and flexibility to travel according
to the needs of the Society. An advanced degree (preferably, in science or engineering) and experience in managing a professional or technical
organization are highly desirable.
