This undergraduate text demonstrates the techniques used to model, and subsequently simulate, the performance of a biological system. It includes a brief introduction to the methodology of dynamic system analysis. The notebook format allows instructors to select only the modules that relate to their specific courses.

This text evolved from a set of class notes developed by the authors for their senior-level modeling courses taught at Virginia Tech and Kansas State University, respectively. The procedure was to review the applicable science, derive the differential equations, and then present the computational methods needed to solve the equations numerically.
      The modular approach allows an instructor to choose the material that fits their course and avoid the expense of purchasing an entire book when only a portion is really needed. A solution manual for all the programming assignments is available. Electronic copies of all MATLAB programs are available to instructors.
